اما شماری از زندانیان در تماس تلفنی با رسانه ها گفته اند که بدرفتاری ماموران زندان با آنها، دلیل اعتصاب غذای است.

به درستی معلوم نیست که چند نفر از زندانیان در بازداشتگاه قندهار دست به اعتصاب غذا زده اند. اما در همین بخش، حدود ۲۰۰ نفر نگهداری می شود که اکثر آنها به اتهام ارتباط با گروه طالبان زندانی شده اند.
